{"id":555,"date":"2021-09-14T10:22:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-14T08:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.safecitizen.co.za\/?p=555"},"modified":"2026-06-03T13:19:48","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T11:19:48","slug":"media-bulletinsubmit-details-of-new-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.safecitizen.co.za\/index.php\/2021\/09\/14\/media-bulletinsubmit-details-of-new-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Bulletin:Submit details of\u00a0new applications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SAAADA &amp; CHASA invite affected individuals to submit the details of their new firearm licence or competency certificate application\u2019s processing period.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">14 September 2021 \u2013 For immediate release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SAPS is obligated to process firearm licence and competency certificate applications within 90 days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is not being complied with, resulting in applicants waiting for many additional weeks and months before their applications are finalised.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adding a further burden to successful applicants, licence cards are often only delivered additional weeks or months later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/saaadaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South African Arms and Ammunition Dealers Association<\/a>&nbsp;(SAAADA) and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chasa.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Confederation of Hunting Associations of South Africa<\/a>&nbsp;(CHASA) request applicants affected by the above, to please submit their relevant details in order to address this noncompliance with administrative procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your input will be invaluable in order for SAAADA &amp; CHASA to take this matter up with the relevant authorities and committees, but also to provide vitally important locus standi in the event of court action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your details will not be made public, and the process is fully compliant with POPIA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a valued DearSA participant, we encourage you to participate at the following link;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dearsouthafrica.co.za\/firearm-licence-waiting-period\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/dearsouthafrica.co.za\/firearm-licence-waiting-period\/<\/a>&nbsp;<em>(the full details and draft bill are available at the link)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Your voice most certainly counts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Already participated?
