Change in SAPS Leadership Welcomed

28 February 2022 – For immediate release

Safe Citizen notes with interest the departure of the National Commissioner Khehla Sithole from his post in the South African Police Services. We trust that the incoming commissioner will usher in a new era of cooperation and efficiency in this critical role at the highest levels of the SAPS.

It is indisputable that the police services, more than any other single department in the national government, play the most critical role in terms of national security, and community safety and security. The public of South Africa relies on the police to keep them safe.

The positive input and cooperation of the South African public into safety and security in our country is vital and Safe Citizen, mandated by a memorandum of understanding with the Civilian Secretariat for Police Services is becoming involved in various aspects of community safety and security in South Africa.

We look forward to welcoming and working closely with the new permanent National Police Commissioner via the Civilian Secretariat for Police Services. Meaningful public-private partnerships will help to make South Africa a much safer place for all of us.
