Safe Citizen extends condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in two tavern attacks over the weekend.

11 July 2022 – For immediate release

Safe Citizen extends condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives in two separate tavern attacks in Soweto and Pietermaritzburg over the weekend.

Although more definite information has yet to emerge, the timing and delivery of the attacks appear to be remarkably similar. Safe Citizen calls for the community to stand together and share any information about these terrible murders with the police and community safety forum chairpersons. It is likely that the murderers are known to the local community – so even a small clue should be reported to SAPS. Only with the cooperation of the community standing together will we be able to root out criminals who murder innocent people.

South Africans are tired of a relentless cycle of violence and as a community, must stand together to make South Africa an uncomfortable place for criminals. We urgently call on the National Commissioner General Sehlahle Masemola, to mobilise a dedicated task team to bring these murderers to justice and to perhaps prevent more attacks.
