On 1 October 2026, Safe Citizen’s attorneys filed a formal application under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) with the QCTO. It asks for the records behind any decision to change who holds quality-assurance responsibility for Qualification 50480, South Africa’s firearm competency training standard.
We asked for those answers directly, in writing, and repeatedly. When none came, we turned to the law. QCTO acknowledged the application within a day and has committed to attending to it.
